It’s officially one week until Valentine’s Day, which means it’s time to get your day dates and date nights planned out! Do you have plans already? Teej and I have dinner reservations this Friday night to celebrate because the place we wanted to go books up so far in advance on actual V-day. I think we will still do something special next week too, but hey that just means twice the fun, right?!
I have always loved day dates. Date nights are amazing, but there is just something special about a day date with your best friend! Today I’m sharing 5 date ideas for those of you who will be celebrating Valentine’s during the day this year!
Fun Fact: I’ve actually been saving this bottle of champs for awhile now. I got it while I was in Paris about 3 years ago!
my look: ‘O’ tee (Use the code PEYTON5 for a discount!) | One Teaspoon jeans | black Vince slide-on shoes | Henri Bendel sunnies | similar jacket | David Yurman cuff | Tory Burch cuff (similar)
his look: ‘X’ tee (Use the code PEYTON5 for a discount!) | BKE jeans (on sale!) | similar shoes
Teej just got this drone, and it is seriously SO cool! It’s definitely my favorite ‘toy’ that he has. 🙂 Some of you may not know, but my husband is a huge tech-guy, so now he is totally obsessed with this thing and I can’t lie .. I may be falling hard for it too!
One of our favorite places where we live is World’s Fair Park, where these photos were taken. We went here a lot throughout college to stunt together and play flirt around like 14 year olds in the fountains! We have so many special memories here, so it’s always nice to stop by World’s Fair on a pretty day. Not to mention, it is the best place to fly the drone and get some really cool footage (+ it’s a good place for me to practice without too many trees for me to run into lol!).
Many of you will most likely go for a date night with your man this Valentine’s Day, but if you do have the chance, you might as well throw a day date in the mix too! Maybe it’s just the hopeless romantic in me, but I think they are just perfectly spontaneous, effortless, and oh so special. Here are a few of my favorite ideas from some of my past experiences that I’m happy to pass along to you all:
1. Picnic in the Park (hence the fun pics above!)
It’s nice to just change up the usual date routine and pretend like you are the only two people in the world. Pretend to be kids again. Play hide and seek. Fly a kite (or in our case, a drone). Goof off. Be silly. It’s just a great feeling when you can be your weird self and feel like you have all that you need with that special person right there by your side!
2. Go for a Hike / Bike Ride
Funny story. One time, Teej and I went for a bike ride — or so I thought! In my head, I had in mind that we were going to ride regular bicycles that you would ride on a beach or on the sidewalk. Ahem… nope! I misunderstood and we ended up on a flippin’ mountain. Long story short, this girl is not cut out for mountain biking. It is such a funny memory to look back on and honestly, I just gave us both a lot of laughs that day which made the experience not so terrifying – except for the part when I almost legit fell off the mountain! Point of the story .. do something where you don’t have to take yourself too seriously and you can look back and laugh at the memories.
This summer, Teej and I are planning on hiking to a waterfall and I’m definitely looking forward to that day date!
3. Watch the Sunrise, Then Brunch
Yes, watching the sunrise is an early task, but there is something so refreshing about doing that. I think we should all do this at least once a year. I’m not a morning person (at all), so I’ll stick to my one time a year, lol! Then, reward yourselves for waking up that early with a nice brunch at your favorite restaurant or with breakfast in bed!
Teej and I have cooked breakfast together so many times, and it truly never gets old. Dancing in the kitchen, coffee kisses, and karaoke (no we can’t sing) … it’s always a blast with lots of laughs!
**I highly recommend this one. 🙂
4. Movie Marathon
… At the movie theater! If you know TJ and I, you know that we are quite often at the movies. I’m not really sure why we both enjoy it so much, but it really never gets old for us – as cliche as it is!
One way to spice up your regular movie dates is to go for a matinee marathon. Buy tickets for 2-3 movies back to back and eat lunch at the theater. My hubs loooves theater food, and not to mention, it’s all getting so fancy at the movies now a days! You won’t hear us complaining though!
5. Visit a Vineyard
Teej and I have gone on a wine tasting before, but we haven’t actually gone to a vineyard. This is also on our bucket list for this spring/summer! If anyone has any good recommendations of places, please let me know!
I imagine that this would be such a romantic day date. What’s better than wine, the love of your life, and the romance of a vineyard for Valentine’s Day? *pure bliss*
I hope you all have a special Valentine’s day full of love with your favorite person by your side! I’d love to hear all about your plans and any date suggestions you all have, so leave me a comment below or message me on Instagram. 🙂
