FriYAY, FriYAY – WOO!
Hey sweet ladies! Today I’m sharing all about the time we spent last weekend in Georgia visiting TJ’s side of the fam. I firmly believe that one of the best things in life is family … and there’s not much more in life that I love more than time spent with the ones that I love most and the ones who I can just be my complete self around. But, I mean, aren’t we all like that with someone in our lives? Even if it’s your friends. Maybe you are more comfortable around them and they are practically what you would call your ‘family’. I know that I picture my best girlfriends like my other sisters! Either way, this time of year, it’s so easy to get caught up in all the craziness of the holidays and forget to celebrate one of the most important parts of the season.
This past weekend was seriously so good for my soul, for my marriage and for my sanity (lol!). The past couple of months for me have just been so incredibly busy & nonstop that it was sooo nice for us to getaway for a night to spend some quality time with the ones that we love and cherish. It felt great just to step away from the norm for a couple of days. Not to mention, Teej and I don’t get to see this side of his family as much as we would like to since we live in different states. 🙁 However, it actually kinda makes our time that we do have together, that much sweeter!
For the first stop of our weekend, we went to lunch with my mother-in-law’s whole entire side of the fam. Being newly married, some of these people I hadn’t even met before! It was so great getting to meet the extended family and to hear Teej introduce me as ‘his wife‘ over and over again … I really don’t think that I’ll ever get tired of hearing that. 🙂
Then, the whole crew packed up and headed to the nursing home to visit with his sweet grandmother who has been battling dementia. And, OMG y’all – Ninny is the stuff! She is so feisty and sassy. I love it, lol! After visiting with her for a few hours, we headed over to our cousins’ – Derek & Melissa’s – new house (congrats guys!!). Holy gorg! Teej and I fell in love with the house and what all they had done to the place. We had only seen it once before when they first bought it, before paint and furniture. Derek and Melissa have two of the most adorable girls in the whole world. Actually, Mollie Kate was one of our junior bridesmaids in the wedding and Maycie was one of our flower girls (I’ve shared a few wedding pics of them in THIS POST!). Teej and I really love kids (especially when they are as sweet and well-behaved as these girls) and we really enjoy hanging out with these two kiddos. They are too funny … and they just LOVE stunting with TJ anytime he’s around (see the pics below!). Sweet Maycie used to call it ‘stumping’ when she was younger, haha!

Between going out for some mexican food and a little shopping experience (mostly just Melissa and me, ha!), we were all ready to get back home by the fire and start our sleepover – complete with coordinating PJ’s, a little Night Before Christmas reading, some stunts (or should I say ‘stumps’ 😉 ), and of course, a ‘Juju On That Beat’ dance lesson from the girls.
What a fun weekend! Spending a whole day packed full of family time with my very best friend by my side is exactly what I needed to just get away from our crazy, busy schedule for a little bit. It was really so refreshing. I hope that y’all will just take the time to spend a little extra quality time this holiday season with the ones that you love. Do it for your family AND for yourself. I promise you will feel so much better after you do. Not to mention, we can’t ever take for granted the opportunities that we have to spend time with our people.
Speaking of, I’m headed to Nashville today with my Mama girl for a little girls weekend getaway! The only thing missing is my sweet Sis. We miss you, Brit!! We have some really fun events and some awesome photo shoots planned for the time that we are there, so be sure to follow along on my Snapchat (@peyton.baxter) and / or my InstaStories to get some sneak peeks. I may even try out one of those new live videos on Insta. Those are pretty cool! How do you guys feel about them? I’m thinking about possibly doing a live vid next week too for a mini Q&A session for all my love ‘n’ labels girls. If y’all have any specific questions that you would like me to answer, just post them in the comments below & I’ll answer them all next week during the live video. I have gotten a lot of ?s recently about where I shop and about a few wedding details, so I’ll be sharing those two for sure.
Have a FAB weekend, you gorgeous girls!
