Baby Britton is here! We are TOTALLY obsessed and in love with our sweet boy!! I’ve never been so happy in my life!
We have been asked numerous times if we plan to share his birth story, so I will be sharing that in another post very soon! At this time, we are just soaking up all the precious moments as a family of 3 and adjusting to our new (incredibly sweet) “normal”. But in the meantime, I wanted to get this post out for you all since it’s been such a huge request amongst many of you. I hope you find it resourceful in some way!
Before heading to the hospital, I shared on Instagram what I had packed in our bags to take with us, and I received so many messages asking if I could share more in detail what I actually ended up using (what we needed/didn’t need, etc). I know that many of you who are following along here are also expecting mamas-to-be at this time, so I’m hoping this post will be helpful when you go to pack your hospital bags.
Let me start by clarifying that I am first and foremost the BIGGEST overpacker of anyone you will ever meet (even on a normal vacation) 😉 , so you may not need to take as much as I did (or maybe you want to?!). Honestly, it’s totally up to YOU, girlfriend. Take anything and everything that will make YOU feel comfortable and most like yourself during your time in the hospital. This is all about you, your baby and your partner … so if someone tries to tell you to “take this” or “don’t take that”, just respectfully acknowledge them and then move on with what will make YOU feel like the best version of yourself during your hospital stay. 🙂
I’ll link to all the items below that we packed with us and ended up using in the hospital. I’m including a short description below the items that we found helpful to have there with us, but again, every parent and every hospital is different, so you may want to alter these items, depending on your own experience and personal preference.
Other than these items listed above, we packed our toiletries (makeup, hairbrush, toothbrush/paste, deodorant, etc.) that we would need, along with some snacks to have in our room. We also packed Britton’s name sign from Cheers and Prayers, a bassinet crib sheet & matching swaddle from Newborn Nest, his coming home outfit, a newborn gown, a newborn onesie, socks and a pair of mittens (sometimes their little nails are so sharp when they are born).
That’s pretty much everything! I hope this is helpful to any expecting mamas out there. 🙂 Again, the items we packed were tailored specifically to US and our family, so others’ hospital essentials may look different and that is okay! Take whatever will make you happy and the most comfortable during your stay.
I’m so excited for all of you who are expecting!! I have never in my life known a love like the one I have for my son — it’s almost scary! The day your baby is born is the most magical day of your life, so take it all in, mama! Soak up every single second, and know that with every little piece of pain, excitement or anxious feeling along the way, that it will all be MORE than worth it. Trust me on that! YOU’VE GOT THIS — you are the perfect Mommy for your sweet angel(s)!
All my love!
