Pretty & Professional

So, I was chatting with my girlfriend, Stephanie, a few days ago and she asked me to help her find some professional, yet fashionable black pants for her new job. Steph lives in the heart of NYC, so looking stylish is a must – even when it comes to the workplace. She gave me some inspo on sharing a more professional look on love ‘n’ labels, and let’s face it … it’s always good to have a refresher on how to keep your personal style pretty & professional while at the office.

For this look, I went with a more stylish variation of the typical workplace attire – white blouse, black slacks, & pumps.

One thing is for sure when talking about office style: you literally can never go wrong with a crisp, white blouse (unless you forget to iron/steam it, of course ha!) But in all seriousness, a white button-down collared blouse is such a classic, staple piece for anyone’s wardrobe. I personally love a blouse because it is so easy to take it from the workplace straight to happy hour with the girls or date night with your hubby. Just simply, roll your sleeves up to make the blouse a little more casual, unbutton the top button & you’re all set.

The particular blouse that I’m wearing above is what I like to call the fashionista’s version of workplace attire. If you work in an office that does not have a super strict dress code of what you have to wear every day, then try jumping outside of the box & taking your typical white blouse up a notch – instead, try wearing more of a statement piece that reflects your personality. Look for those certain pieces in boutiques that are just a variation (aka, a more stylish version) of your ‘typical’ white blouse or your ‘typical’ black pants. That’s how you will best stand out & establish your own style, while still keeping it pretty & professional at the office.

I love this Simon Chang button down that I got from Janice Ann’s here in Knoxville. The thin layer of tulle at the bottom + the lightly sequined pocket on the front just give this piece a little more fashionable femininity. The black cigarette leg pants that I have on actually have a subtle pattern detailing on them that also helps create a more unique feel to the whole professional look. Pair your look with your favorite pumps & if that means your red-bottoms, then GO FOR IT! Pop a red lip to even out the boldness on the top & bottom of your look & let that be your only pops of color. Once it starts getting cooler, just add your fave black trench coat (..you can just throw it over your shoulders for a more chic feel). I’ve also added my monochromatic, mirrored sunnies that would be perfect to wear on the patio where your girlfriends (& your glass of wine) are meeting you after work. 😉

All in all, don’t be afraid to step outside of the box when it comes to your workday attire. If you have the freedom to choose your own outfits for the office, try wearing a stylish variation of your ‘typical’ corporate #ootd. Pretty & professional is the way to go!

Thanks for stopping by! Time to go be a #GirlBoss, babes!

Peyton
